The Making of Piper
A CD-ROM from Splash Studios

Piper is an all original story set in the late 1800Æs gold rush era of California. It is based on the classic legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin where the Piper leads away the rats with his magic flute to save the town. We introduce a unique set of characters and situations to bring new life to the old story.

HereÆs what the cast and crew have to say about the making of Piper:

"I donÆt think anyone has ever done anything quite like this before."
      -Roland Yamamoto, Producer/Director

"I liked everything...working on the blue screen, working with a 4 1/2 foot tall rat...and IÆve never hung around with a Power Ranger, thatÆs really cool."
-Billy O, age 14, plays the role of "Buster"

"WhatÆs the best way to tell stories? Well, itÆs with real people. So the idea was to use live-action people, but then instead of shooting them on location or with sets, we put them into a 3-D environment."
      -Vance Martin, Art Director

"This is definitely different than The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers... This Piper character is sort of like this con-man that turns into a hero at the end."
-Jason David Frank (of The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), plays the role of "Piper"

"Working with a Power Ranger was pretty cool!"
-Robert Wahl, age 10, plays the role of "Jody"

"WeÆve created the entire town of Midas Valley in the computer. There are 31 buildings and three interiors; the saloon, the blacksmith shop, and the orphanage. WeÆve created the complete underground workings of the mine, the cavern of gold, and the ore-cart station. WeÆve got about 450 background plates, along with live animated rats that will be composited in behind the talent."
      -Vance Martin, Art Director

"I liked working with the rats, that was really fun! Yeah, the life size one- COOL!"
-Sarah Wayne (of Magic on the Water), age 12, plays the role of "Alice"

"This is arguably the most ambitious childrenÆs title ever produced. This is the first time these techniques have been applied purely for a childrenÆs audience."
-Patrick Ford, President and CEO of Splash Studios
